Wake up American to change the path of our country

Updated on May 22, 2014

Our country is at a crossroads which is more serious than the one in place during the last election cycle. Our debt is higher, our unemployment rate is subject to interpretation and the need for energy independence cannot be greater than it is today. The path our country will take going forward will be determined by those we elect this year and in 2016. The culture in Congress needs to exhibit a dramatic change in the way they operate and the way they impact our daily lives both as individuals and as business owners.

Governments at all levels have a purpose and whether that purpose is being fulfilled or whether it is in an overreach mode will be decided by those of us who vote. Voting is an important opportunity to voice our opinion about the way our elected officials have been making decisions. Individuals of integrity I do believe exist in both political parties but the problem is that they are being drowned out or snubbed by their own party in some cases. This needs to change.

We may not agree with all the decisions made by our elected officials but we have the right to evaluate those decisions and their impact on the problems facing our country. Decisions being made must be for the benefit of the whole country not specific locations as we have seen reported in the news concerning waste in government spending.

We cannot remove those individuals who are serving in executive departments through our votes but our votes can send a strong message about how we feel about their actions. Many problems/scandals are now coming to light the latest of which is the VA scandal. The treatment or the lack of treatment of our veterans is unforgiveable and someone should be held accountable. Whether the problems being identified are systemic of the organization remains to be seen but the mere fact that the same methods were used in multiple locations point to such being the case.

The percentage of voters who have thus far taken the time to exercise their vote during the primaries signals that voters feel their voices are not being heard with respect to the signal they are sending. The percentage of voters needs to drastically increase for the general election in November and typically they are higher than the primaries simply for the importance of the decisions being made.

Results in some elections of the past could have been different if just one person in each precinct or county voted for the person who lost. One vote by itself may not make much of a difference but it is important to cast that vote. When individuals put their votes together for change, changes can happen.

The overreach of government and the inefficiency as exhibited in a number of scandals should raise concern of the voters enough so that they make the effort to vote this year. The support of the current administration and the current policies is seeing by some reports to be less than during the last election. If we do not vote in this election year or in any election we let those who do vote make the decisions for us and we have no right to complain about the result. We must vote to voice our opinion on all the issues and the performance of our elected officials. Making decisions regarding the path our country will take in the future is critical at this juncture of our country. We need individuals who will shake up the establishment and propose sound solutions to solve our nation’s problems including our national debt, national security and energy independence to name a few. Let us take the initiative to vote this election year to voice our opinion on the path for the future of our country, family and friends.
