The changing perspective of the 2016 election
The perspective of the 2016 presidential and legislative election is developing and the attention on various topics may or will change dependent upon what the candidates want to talk about in each of the political parties. Some topics are sure to be a part of the landscape unless things change which at juncture appear unlikely. The makeup of Congress after the 2014 election in November will play a significant role in the path our country takes going forward.
There are always going to be hot topics about the public care deeply and those running for election in 2016 whether it is at the state or federal level makes no difference. Voters will look at the candidates for each office and decide whether they are addressing topics they feel they should or whether they are the topics about which voters feel less deeply or concerned.
Politics and those who are a part of this segment of the economy are not in the most favorable position with the public at this point and it will not change unless there are drastic changes in the culture of Congress. Congress is 1/3 of the checks and balances established under the Constitution and they have not been taking their responsibilities seriously according to public opinion.
The perspective of the 2016 election whether it will change between now and when the candidates formally run for political office remains to be seen. One thing will not change unless drastic changes take place is the opinion the public has of the government and those who are charged with protecting their interests.
Presidential elections in the past when an incumbent is not able to run for another term potentially opens the door for someone new to take the helm of each of the political parties. Several times in the past an unknown individual decides to run for office and suddenly he or she is the leading candidate for the office they seek. This is what makes this election and the issues which will be involved more significant than in years past. Our soaring debt unless action is taken to get it under control will remain one of the top issues.
Another issue will be our economic condition regarding the growth of our economy and the number of individuals unemployed or underemployed. Many individuals are hurting today who cannot find work and while some may have given up the search others want jobs to provide for their families. The number and percentage of unemployed workers in our country at the time we elect a new Congress and President will impact the results of the election. It is without question that our economy will not turn around so quickly between the 2014 election and the 2016 election.
Our country needs new leaders who will take our country forward to a new era of growth and prosperity. Individuals who lead the charge so to speak are now emerging both in the Senate and in the House of Representatives. Both political parties need to take heed as these individuals are seeing wide support in some cases for their initiatives and stance on issues about which voters care. The establishment in both parties may or I believe will see more new leaders who want to solve the issues facing our country and have proposals to make a difference in the way government operates. Some in the political parties have criticized individuals for taking a stand on issues about which they feel they must instead of embracing the new culture emerging from the new blood who are not representing us in Congress.
The 2016 election is not just about electing a new president and a new Congress for there are elections at the state level for which candidates must address the issues facing their individual states. The path states will take going forward will be impacted by those individuals who will either be reelected or elected to their individual positions in the government either at the executive or legislative organization.
Too often the media report on which candidates they feel deserve coverage but the new perspective for this election year will be far different than in years past. Actions at the state level have seen some battles some have been won and others have been lost. The public is getting more involved with government operations and voicing their opinion with their votes as to whether the current practices of government in place in the 2016 election is what they want for the future of their state and for the country.
New political groups have been formed and are emerging as a force in any election not the least of which will be the election of a new President and a new Congress. There are going to be incumbents who will be replaced at the state and federal levels of government bringing forth new individuals who will impact congressional and legislative decisions for years to come. It is hoped that positive changes will take place in the political culture at all levels of government after the 2014 election. Changes are inevitable at any level of government but with the election of a new President and some new Governors in 2016 the decisions we make as voters must be the right ones. We must evaluate any candidate for any office with respect to their positions and proposals to fix the problems facing our state and our country. There has been too much gridlock on both sides of the isle. We elect individuals to work together for the good of our state and our country but many focus on their party positions. This is not the way government is supposed to work. Let us send a clear message both in the 2014 election and the 2016 election that we are tired of the status quo and want changes to be made. Electing the right individuals to lead us will impact the change we will see.
