The battle for the White House
The lines have been drawn for the continuing race to control the White House. Mitt Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan creates a clear choice for the voters in the next election. Many voters know little about Paul Ryan and his approaches to the problems except what has been covered in the news. In the coming weeks and months throughout the campaign and in the debates this fall voters will come to know Paul Ryan and his approach to solving the issues facing our country.
It is clear the Romney campaign needed a boost and the pick of Paul Ryan may well be that boost. Issues that faced Romney in recent weeks were that he had not definitively identified specifics on his approach in many cases to the issues at hand. While it is true that Ryan has been criticized on his budget plan picking him for the VP slot clearly provided an indication of Romney’s thought process in resolving the issues facing our country.
The battle lines have been drawn for comparing the Republican approach to our issues in relation to the Democratic approach. Politicians can agree on the issues but the differences come from the approach to be taken to resolve them. Both political parties must work together in making the necessary decisions to resolve issues which are hurting families and our economy. It is true that hard decisions need to be made and those decisions must be based on honest approaches to the issues. These approaches should be irrespective of which party or individual presents an option to attack the issues head-on.
In the coming days there will be much discussion from both political parties as to the positive and negatives of Romney’s pick for his running mate. Voters must get to know the details of Ryan’s approach to the issues in his budget proposal not what the news media wants to report. Voters must be informed not by political comments but by the details of the approaches taken or proposed and how they may be impacted in the future.
The upcoming debates between President Obama and Mitt Romney will be a stark comparison on their approaches to the issues. This contrast will not be restricted to the Presidential debates but will be evident in the Vice Presidential debate debate between Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden. For many the debates to be held may be the turning point for some voters to decide who they support. Understanding the issues and approaches to them may be accomplished more clearly in the debates but voters should not depend solely on the debates to make their decisions. An informed voter is a dangerous individual as politicians making attempts to spin the issues and approaches will find voters want the truth not a spin on what the truth is in their version.
It is hoped in this election with the future of our country in the balance that voters will be informed to make the right decisions not only for them but for the country. The issues facing our country need to be addressed today not in the future. Government spending more money than it takes in is not the right approach to managing government responsibilities. It is necessary that spending cuts need to take place to reign in the deficit spending but common sense needs to be applied to the process. Elected officials in place today and those who will be elected in November must not worry about the next election but what is the right thing to do for our citizens and our country. The battle for the White House will be hard fought within the coming weeks and months. The voters will decide whether the approach identified in the Republican Party or the Democratic Party is the right solution will be made by the voters. Voters always have the last say and the upcoming election is no different.
