The Positive Impact of Innovation

Updated on March 11, 2013

To begin the definition of innovation is a new method, idea, product or technological innovations. In terms of a business definition of this concept it is the process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates for which customers will pay. While these definitions are general in nature like anything else we as individuals may have our own definition of what constitutes innovation.

The concept of innovation is inherent in the business and government world but what does innovations involve and what is the impact? We have always been a country that strives for innovation and in fact innovation is what has made this country what it is today. To understand the concept and principle of innovation we must recognize the many inventions and technology changes which has occurred throughout our history. Examples of electricity, the automobile and the airplane to name a few were products of innovation.

Americans and in fact the world as it is today is the result of innovation. We as individuals are always thinking of how to do things better it is part of our nature or at least the nature of most of us in the business world. Innovation involves not only creating new products or tools it is about improving techniques to get the job done for companies at which we work. The talent we have in this country has no limitation we only need to apply the resources and experience each of us have to improve not only our lives but the lives of every American in our country.

In the beginning our country had little tools to do what needed to be done to establish our country. The knowledge of those individuals from all walks of life and from all corners of the world has made this country what it is today. Innovation is the result of the knowledge and experience each of us has and it sometimes involves working with others to refine techniques or improve processes.

Innovation is a concept that is not restricted to a single country but exists in many countries around the world. The success of innovation rests in the environment which allows it to exist and prosper. Some countries as a country may have some restrictions on the concept of innovation but the businesses within it must exercise the principle of innovation if they are to survive in the world economy as it is today. Competition is fiercer today than at any time in our history and companies who use the principle of innovation to help company or organization be better prepared for their completion are more likely to succeed.

One key point to understand about the innovation process is that results of innovation can be utilized by others. This is where inventions have had a positive impact on the innovation techniques they created. The impact of electricity, the automobile and the airplane are undeniably the result of innovation. Concepts like these and others have had a huge impact on how businesses operate today in a capacity different from when our country began. We must all embrace innovation not only as an individual but as part of the organizations or companies with which we are associated.
